Gilberto Rodriguez Diaz, the founder of Garyu Rico Do Martial Arts Asociation, was born in may of 1943. He began his martial arts training in 1949. In 1955 his parents relocated to Japan where he continued his training under Karate masters Yamaguchi Gojen sensei, Oyama Masutatsu sensei etc. When he returned to his homeland San Juan, Puerto Rico, he opened a series of dojos.
Grandmaster Diaz founded the Gayu Rico Do Karate Do system which grew to an outstanding 8000 active member strong.
Among his more known freinds were and some still are Pete Siringano Sr., Frank Ruiz, Chuck Merriman, Gary Alexander, Chuck Norris, Peter Urban, Johnny Kool, Ed Parker and many more.
